Important things to implement next year that I learned from my club team

sorry to be really lame and post drills/plays, but i can't find the google doc that we're supposed to put drills on...so i'm just putting it here!

1. 5: this is when you're on the mark and you're at stall five, you count normally, but scream "5!" when you get to stall five. this indicates for the dump D that they should ONLY be worried about up the line as you take away any around throw (we haven't done it yet, but it sounds pretty good).

2. forward foot races drill: especially good when it's rainy and wet for bidding. basically this is a cool sprint/bidding practice. there are two lines, no distinction btwn o or d, and one person from each line sprint forward when the thrower says go. The throw throws a small 50/50 pass and you have to catch it. good for practicing boxing people out, bidding timing, and getting a step on your girl on the in cuts.

3. new end zone play: converts well from ho, maybe it can be called jedi/empire? basically you have a primary iso (we can call it jedi still) and a secondary iso (empire). jedi sets up about 5-10 yrds from the front of the endzone, really really really really close. the empire sets up in the middle of the back ofthe endzone, and the other two (imperialists? wokis? r2d2 and hans solo?) set up at back two corners of endzone. jedi has ONE fake and ONE cut. if open, you throw to them, if not, look them off and then jedi clears to take place of either r2d2 or hans solo (then r2d2 or hans solo becomes new empire) while empire strikes back (hahahah) down the middle of the field towards where jedi started for an open incut. if they're not actually open, then they become a new jedi, and if they're still not open, they clear out. this cycle continues until you score.

4. MOST IMPORTANTLY: NEW VERSION OF BASEBALL. for those of you who don't know baseball is a game much akin to beirut but you can have larger teams and it goes on for 9 innings. i'll explain more when we get back to school instead of explaining the whole game here. the new addition is called "stealing bases." There's the normal set up for baseball, but plus 2 extra lone cups on each side of the table where the "field" is NOT. once your team has someone on base, you can send someone to steal a base by having them run to a side of the table, drink the contents of one of the cups and then flip one-cup their way to victory. it's flip cup b/c as soon as you see someone trying to steal a base, if you're on the other team, you rush to the other cup (that's why there's 2 cups!) and try to beat them at flip cup. if offense wins, the base is stolen, if defense wins, it's an out.

i hope some of this made sense. i hope everyone's summer is going well! sorry this is a lame post haha.

  1. hahaha! The empire strikes back! I love it! love it! love it! And it looks like a great play, becuase sometimes the person cutting gets really sick of not getting open (def happened to me at High Tide).
